Reflections on East and West, 1985 - 1987 As Xu's experiences and understanding of the West lengthened, he began what would become a life-long reflection on the crossroads between the artistic traditions of the East and the West. The loosely paired works from this period are an expression of Xu's thoughts on the dual nature of these two different visual experiences.
